Giving Back to Our Community

Some Chester County high schoolers are doing a class assignment for more than a grade. They’re doing it to give a working father a lift. “It’s gonna look brand new when we’re done,” said instructor Mark Serfass. He says he wants to teach his students how important their work can be. “You can’t have all takers in the world. You have to have some people who give back.”

They’re donating it to Recycled Rides. Insurance companies, car dealers, and auto body shops across the country fix donated cars for needy families. These are the first high schoolers to participate. “It’s gonna look brand new when we’re done,” said instructor Mark Serfass. He says he wants to teach his students how important their work can be. “You can’t have all takers in the world. You have to have some people who give back.”

People like his former student, Joe Gathercole of 3D Auto Body & Collision Centers: “I’m the painter, so I volunteered to do the fun stuff and spray the paint on it and make it look good and shiny,” Gathercole said.

3D Volunteers for the TCHS Auto Collision Repair Technogy Program

Nineteen automotive collision industry experts, businesses and advocates hosted the 2015 Auto Collision Experience at Technical College High School Brandywine Campus.

The Auto Collision Experience, referred to as the ACE Spotlight, was free to the public. Event organizers said it is designed to showcase the variety of career paths available in the fast-growing automotive industry, Ace Spotlight will include information about career opportunities and growth across all disciplines.

Workshops for students, parents and those interested in automotive careers will be presented by industry leaders. Event organizers said the workshops are designed to highlight the multitude of career paths available in the auto collision repair industry, including graphic design and advertising, sales and customer service, and repair work and management.
